Heart Month Employee Spotlight: Kisha's Story for Strength & Survival

February is American Heart Month, and it's a reminder to encourage and practice the habits that keep our hearts healthy every day. It's also a time to recognize Kisha, an MCO employee who brings sunshine to our terminals. Kisha is a survivor of a life-threatening heart emergency that happened quietly and without warning. Her day started like any other, but she felt unusual upper back pain and fatigue. She didn't realize these were warning signs until she got home and went to the hospital, where she was admitted for a heart attack and treated. It took Kisha months to recover, even requiring surgery for a defibrillator. Her experience inspired her to advocate for healthier heart habits and to spread awareness. She played a role in organizing a walk team for the 2025 Orlando Heart Walk, turning survival into action.

Kisha's story reminds us that heart emergencies can happen at any time, and being prepared helps us protect one another. Because of what she's been through, she knows how critical those first moments can be, and that's why preparedness matters here at Orlando International Airport. Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are located throughout the airport and can be quickly found using the MCO App. The PulsePoint CPR app can also help you locate AEDs and alert trained bystanders nearby. ARFF also offers CPR training for all MCO employees, giving everyone a chance to learn life-saving skills. To learn more, visit: https://mcocares.com/training/
