MCO Employees Take Action During CPR & AED Preparedness Week

CPR & AED Awareness Week gave us another great opportunity to bring MCO employees together for hands on, life saving training. The event was led by the ARFF (Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters) EMS crew and equipped employees with the skills and confidence to act when every second counts.

Airport employees were guided through a series of interactive stations to learn each life-saving skill. During the CPR portion, they practiced hands only CPR on adult and infant manikins, learning how hand placement and rhythm differ between age groups. They then worked directly with AEDs, learning how to power them on, apply the pads, and follow the device’s prompts during a cardiac emergency.

The training also featured trauma care with a Stop the Bleed segment, offering hands on practice with wound packing and tourniquet application to help control severe bleeding until professional responders arrive.

These training sessions are conducted quarterly, providing airport employees with consistent opportunities to stay current on CPR techniques, AED operation, and hands-on emergency response practices.

We’re also sharing the PulsePoint CPR app, https://www.pulsepoint.org/download, which notifies trained bystanders of nearby cardiac emergencies and supports lifesaving efforts throughout and beyond the airport.

Want to join the next quarterly session? MCO employees can find upcoming training events on the MCOcares website: https://mcocares.com/training/
